War Veterans – Free parking – Municipalities

We have received an inquiry about providing free parking to war veterans in our downtown. Does your municipality provide free parking to War Veterans and if so, what are the particulars of the program? If you have reviewed this program and decided against it, please provide any reasons why the program was not accepted and/or discontinued.

    Hi Paul,
    Brantford offers free parking to vehicles with a “veteran” plate for up to 24 hours in both surface lots. Pay stations control lots and on-street parking is currently free.

    Hi Paul,

    Calgary has had a Veteran’s program in place since 2012. Eligible folks get $10/month in parking credit to park at any City operated parking facility (surface lot, parkade and on-street). I’ve included the link below which has more details on the program and how we determine eligibility.
